When are you moving? Hopefully by Spring 2011
Where are you coming from? Queens, NY (on the Nassau, LI border)
Why are you moving? 1. Daughter going to Muhlenberg; 2. A quieter life 3. Country & Wildlife
Where will you be working? Hubby might commute to NYC; I will try and find employment (Office Administration)
Have you been here yet? Yes - visited many areas of PA

Will you buy or rent? Hopefully buy, but would consider a rental
If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? House - Maximum cost $300,000 (preferably lower)
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? House or Townhouse (Max $1500)
Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? Doesn't matter

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Married (1 child going to College)
Do you have pets? 3 Cats
Do you want or need a yard? YES
Are you keeping a car? yes - 1 car
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Calm, quiet, peaceful

What do you want to be closest to? (Rated in order of preferance)
3. Work
2. Shopping
1. Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)
5. Nightlife
4. Train or subway stations

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? Doesn't matter so long as crime is relatively low, and people are nice.

Phillies or Mets? Neither. Not a baseball fan.

Thanks for any advice!!

Where in Pa do you want to live? How close do you want to be to your daughter?

I would recommend New Hope, Doylestown, or Lambertville(NJ). They are all about an hour from Allentown but closer to the NJ transit which goes directly to NYC. Doylestown also has a direct train to Philly.

Since the OP is posting on the Lehigh Valley forum, I'm guessing they want opinions on places in the Lehigh Valley EXCEPT there is NO rail service in the Lehigh Valley.

If that that's not a problem, the only places in the Lehigh Valley that have something like a nightlife would be the cities of Bethlehem or Easton. If you don't really care about that, a nice small town that would be within 20 minutes of Muhlenberg is Emmaus. Frankly, most kids would probably prefer parents a little further away then that!
