My family is moving to Butler, KY, at the end of this month and my son has a kidney transplant. We lost one son with a kidney transplant to a FL hospital considered excellent, but whose nephrologists did not do transplants, and made many drug mistakes. So do any northern KY hospitals do kidney transplants? Humana wants us to either stick to KY or go into a PPO, which could devastate us, as we are retiring this year.
Anybody know about transplant care in Lexington? Thanks

Being new to KY, I have no idea. Do you need pediatric nephrology? Maybe start with UK?

Good luck.

UK hospital is known for providing good care to transplant patients. I would recommend that you check into Cincinnati Children's Hospital. I do not know for sure if they do transplants, but if I had a child in fragile health, that would be one of the first places I would investigate. That comes from doing insurance work as a nurse for several years. It would also be closer to you than UK which should be a consideration for Humana if you push it.
