Anyone used the PM School for highlights or other hair services? ?They are students but supposedly under direct supervision of someone who is "certified" The price is less than hlaf of the price of going to a regular salon.

Just curious if anyone had tried it and if you recommend going there for highlights/hair cut or not!

Yes and no.

It depends a LOT on who you get. I had a decent experience there with just a hair cut. A friend of mine went for highlights and their first attempt was pretty bad because they didn't get it close enough to her head, so she had visible roots that looked like they had been growing for months. She was able to get it fixed for free but had the added hassle of making a return trip. Once they fixed it (with the help of the instructor) it looked pretty decent.

One thing - they take FOREVER even for just a hair cut. The students have to discuss everything with the instructor, and they definitely take their time cutting it. Just the downside of working with students.

Overall, I would go back because the price is good (and would consider getting highlights), but I would also be prepared to make a return trip just in case it didn't work out the first time.

Can't comment on highlights, but our experience there was a complete disaster. My young daughter has very tangly hair, so they made her a "case study" and suddenly a dozen students are surrounding her watching the technique. She cried and we had to stop them --- no haircut. And mine was just horrible, took me 6+ months to grow it out, way too short, uneven, ugh! (The manager person there is very aggressive; she thinks she's dynamic, we just found her totally overbearing).
