My husband, 2 year old son and me are going to Lexington this Monday. Any suggestions of places to eat? The only thing I don't want is a sushi type place because I am 8 months pregnant. Would love to try a place that you won't find anywhere but Lexington but also be a place that I won't be frowned upon if my son makes too much noise. Thanks for any suggestions!

Ramsey's on High Street is a Lexington establishment. Reasonable prices, kid friendly, local style food.
Ramseys

Alfalfa's downtown is a vegetarian friendly place (they do have a few meat dishes) but I love it and I'm not a vegetarian. My favorite is the homemade soups and the avacado grill, I make it at home because I don't live there anymore. Looks like they are only open for lunch Monday.

Joe Bologna's is a really poplular Italian-American style place on W. Maxwell. It is fun too, it is in an old church. Very kid friendly.

All of the above are GREAT suggestions. Here is another: Billy's BAR-B-Q - The Best Barbeque In Lexington, Kentucky My personal picks would be Joe Bologna's or Billy's.

Does anyone recommend Bella Notte? I heard they have really good food but wanted to see what you guys think compared to the other places you mentioned.

Belle Notte is very nice - reasonable prices and good, if not gourmet, Italian food. Not sure how child-friendly they are, but they were very welcoming to a group of around 12 adults when I last ate there with friends.

Bella Notte is good but they can have a long wait time to get seated. Joe Bologna's isn't as fancy but is more kid friendly. Be sure to get some breadsticks!

We had reservations when we visited Bella Notte - which would make a difference in seating time. Not a bad idea to call ahead at any popular restaurant which takes reservations, imo...

Good idea. I didn't realize they took reservations. On second thought regarding Joe B's it will be crowded as the UK kids are back.

She said they will be there Monday. I doubt anyplace will be very crowded on Monday night.

Joe B's is crowded most every night when UK is in session. If you don't get there by 6:00 there is usually a wait.
