My family is looking to relocate to the Lexington, Ky area and I am looking for some advice on services in the schools for my son who has high functioning Autism. Mainly,my concerns are around
Properly trained staff and ease of the schools and district accepting of my son? Any thoughts on best school? Middle and high school?

Kentucky teachers are required to obtain master's degrees in their field within a few years of graduating with bachelor's degrees, and are also required to obtain lots of continuing education credits each year, so they will certainly be paper-qualified.

Your best bet might be to contact the schools directly and ask which one(s) would most benefit your son. I have a very conscientious and dedicated friend who is a speech-language pathologist who works with a number of children with autism (and additional children with other special needs) in the Fayette County School System. The requirements for such specialist-teachers are rigorous.

You might also benefit by contacting local support groups for parents in this area - they could report on first-hand experiences with schools.
