I am hoping to move to Lexington in the winter or spring. My sister & her husband live there so I will be staying with them until I get settled. I would really like to find employment or at least employment options before I make the move. What are good companies to work for? Does anyone know of any companies that are hiring? I'm 24, just out of grad school (for education) & have a BS Psychology. I just would like any kind of job to at least tide me over until I find something permanent. Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you looking for a teaching position? Are you going to have an education certificate?

If you only want something short-term, you might consider some of the temping agencies around town until you can get settled and find a permanent job.

I'm a bit unsure of what you're looking for also. What is your master's in.... Education? There are many outlets for you if so, including possibly in a high school. I know Lafayette HS began to offer a class in psychology this year and perhaps some of the other high schools. There's UK, Transylvania University, Centre College, Asbury College, Eastern Kentucky College, Berea College, Lexington Community College (which is actually called something else now), Midway College, Georgetown College..... all in Lexington or with 45 minutes of Lexington. There's also so some technical colleges/schools such as Sullivan College and various business schools around. I would imagine if you're flexible you shouldn't have any trouble finding some sort of teaching position.

My Masters is actually in School Counseling. I wouldn't mind some type of clerical work in a school, hospital, etc. to tide me over until I find something more permanent. I would like to move down Christmas time & hopefully find employment soon after (it doesn't look like I'll be finding it before!). Thanks for the info so far!

I can't speak from any experience of clerical positions in education. However, I work in the field of healthcare and recently hired a couple of clerical positions. We received approx 400 applications/resumes!
