You may want to look in the surrounding towns for affordable rentals. There are a l lot of duplexes in Garden Springs area

I think that area would be too riddled with crime to consider.

Garden Springs proper isn't bad, that includes Beaumont Middle. Lots of rentals (mainly duplexes) but still seems safe. Gardenside, which is along Alexandria Dr near Versailles Rd is a different story.

However...the streets which run between Alexandria Drive and Lane Allen Road are quite safe, and include nice middle-class ranch houses. The area closer to Lane Allen is quite pleasant and well-kept. A few blocks can make a big difference in this town.

I'm quite familiar with that area as it's where a lot of my family ended up when moving from Casey / Russell counties. I lived in Skycrest neighborhood from 1994 to 1996 and rented an apartment from 2010 to 2012. The shopping area and apartments along Alexandria Dr north of Lane Allen are where the problems are. It's one of very few areas of Lexington that have massively declined in quality of life in the past 20 years. I couldn't believe seeing homeless people and drug deals in front of the Kroger there when it used to be a similar area to the Boston Rd Kroger. But residential areas are mostly single family homes that are lived in by the home owner, which keeps it fairly stable. There are some very nice neighborhoods even bordering south of the public housing on Versailles Rd. The stuff west of Parkers Mill Rd is upscale and very pricey. It's a crazy area
