This is a fairly new High School (in it's 3rd year). I have a couple of friends who teach there and it's pretty innovative and impressive so I thought I'd share some info/thoughts.
S: Science T: Technology E: Engineering A: Arts M:Mathematics. STEAM.
This school is in the North Limestone area and it's technically a high school (9-12) but most students take college classes at UK. Every student has access to various forms of technology in the classroom.
Lexington's public schools are terrific and most have some sort of specialized program (SCAPA at Lafayette, MSTC at Dunbar, ESL at Bryan Station, International Baccalaureate at Tates Creek). A new traditional HS is going in at Winchester Rd. Lexington also has it's fair share of private high schools (I believe 8) and if you can afford Sayre, Catholic, Trinity or the great Montessori high school then by all means.
STEAM offers a mixture of all the above PLUS a bit of the technical schools in the city (like Locust Trace, Eastside, etc) but less trades and more engineering/how it works. It's very hands on.
I'll share the link below to anyone who has kids fast approaching high school age. It's very interesting and I'm proud the city continues to evolve and create a school system that meets the differing needs, diversity, inclusiveness and treats each student like an individual on a different path--not a number to go through the mandatory turnstile leading to an expensive college.
