I really wanted to live in Lexington since it has many things to do. I called around to some of the schools in the area and found that they are not accepting any new children right now since the class is full. I can't really take a chance on not getting into the schools in the area that I choose a home. So it looks like I will be house hunting in Versailles. The school system seems more stable. The only thing is that I won't have the city feel that I love so much.

Hmm, I'm sure you could get into your schools in the fall. Could you try private schools for the remainder of this year in Lexington? It wouldn't be that long. If you move to Versailles - that is, if you buy, then you've made a multi-year commitment.

What areas were you looking at? Woodford County schools are not that bad however, as goldenmom said you could possibly look into private schools for the remainder of this year. Try Fayette County schools again this fall.

Yeah, I'm just thinking that if she wants to be in Lexington it would be nice to get her to Lexington, but it's certainly not any warning about schools in Versailles since I just don't know one way or the other

Right. Basically all I know about Woodford County is that the WC High is in Versailles and it is HUGE. Academically speaking I think it is a pretty average school; I don't know much about WC Middle or the elementary schools. Sorry I'm not much help there, but I almost never go to Woodford County because I never have any reason to do so...

We had a substitute in the library yesterday (I volunteer in there every day) - she has been in the school system for 40 years, etc., and when she heard my story she said I should have just marched down to our school and said "I am here to sign up and you have to let me in". The school board gives a lot of conflicting information, so I don't know what to say to the original poster.

Henry Clay as bad as Bryan Station??? I'm a junior in HS and some of my best friends go to HC and I've even shadowed them around a few times... Yes HC has its drug issues like most any school does these days, but it's not nearly on the same scale as Station or Creek.
