Thinking of leaving Washington to be closer to my grandkids who live in Georgetown..I like the two areas via the internet and my daughter and Son in law, liked Richmond but chose the closer commute to his work in Lexington settled in Georgetown. We'd be looking for a acre or so,maybe at a higher elevation so we'd have a view..probably build a smaller home than what we have now..2100 sq ft..Since they don't seem to build many homes with a 3 car garage and kitchens with wall ovens and cooktops i'll have to find a custom builder.
Looking for recommendations on the better parts of these 2 towns and reputable builders..thanks

Gerogetown is a growing town due to Toyota. I'd personally stay there. It's not my cup of tea, but very clean and nice in the newer parts of town. Nice small town. I've never seen a bad part of Georgetown, just maybe older and rundown in parts near downtown. Crime is low and it's more centrally located to major cities and airports. Richmond is more of a college town, but has too much Appalachia vibe for me personally.
