We are definitely moving to Danville and need a place to rent as we are waiting for our house in Florida to sell before purchasing a home in the area. School starts August 15th. And we need to be there before then. Any suggestions you might have are greatly appreciated.

There are a lot of rentals, and summer's a good time to be looking because it's a college town. What are your needs?

We need at least 3 bedrooms, preferably in Boyle County or Danville school district. My husband's job is in downtown Danville and he would prefer a commute of no more than 10 miles or so. Price range $700 to $1,000 per month. Must allow one dog (we have a retired racing greyhound).

It's hard to give specific answers, because I don't have firsthand knowledge of specific rental properties. But in general, you shouldn't hve any trouble finding a really nice place for that. I know of one place that's a 2-bedroom with fireplace, 2 blocks from downtown, really nice yard, and only $500 a month. I don't know if that's the exception or the rule, but it at least gives you some idea of what the range will probably be.

What's the plan - are you trying to get a place lined up sight unseen before you come up, or will you move up and look around? Or make a scouting trip before the move? That's probably the best approach; come up a month before the move and pick something out. If you do that, keep in touch with me - I'll drive you around, show you the different parts of town, tell you now about the crime and which parts of town have the most frequent "boil water" alerts.

Cool! How long will you be here? I'd like to make time for y'all that weekend, if you like. I'm going to be a little tight, because I do payroll for 100 employees every other weekend, and that's the weekend. But I will definitely make time, and would be thrilled to help. Where will you stay? PM me if you wish.

Oh, and whatever hotel you stay at, it might behoove you to bedbug-proof your room. They're a bit of a problem in Kentucky.

Thanks for the advice. We're arriving Thursday afternoon and heading back out Saturday morning. It's a very quick trip. We need to be back home to spend father's day with our adult children.
