General contractor licensing? Mixed data... (Lexington: purchasing, camping, moving to)

So my wife and I are going to be moving to the Lexington area and purchasing land, going to be putting a number of buildings on it and opening it up for camping.

I've read that one doesn't need a GCl in order to build on one's own land, but considering that we are going to be running a small business from the property as well, is this still true?

Any help in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.
