I may be going to UK to earn a doctorate degree. Their assistantship program is basically free tuition and a small stipend ($12,00 per year).

The question is/are: What is the job market like in Lexington. My wife has clerical/administrative experience.

We are from Cleveland, Ohio and the job market sucks. More companies are closing or laying off workers.

I would hate to commit to UK and not be able to afford living there.

For clerical/administrative, your wife should be able to find something at UK, or elsewhere. There is always a need for this. UK has its own temp agency, called S.T.E.P.S., and it's a GREAT way to get her foot in the door. The permanent positions are often filled from the temps, or she can stay temp and have the flexibility. What is your doctorate going to be in?
