My son (early 20s) is starting to think about when he will move out on his own. He has high-functioning autism and does not drive. We currently live in southeastern Kentucky, and he wants to live in a city; Lexington is one of the places he's considering. His doctor is at UK, which is an incentive to live here. He asked me to help him learn about Lexington and determine which parts of the city might best suit his needs. With that in mind, here are some details:

Employment: He's worked in retail (material handling at Walmart) and currently works for a company that sells trading cards on eBay (dream job for a kid on the spectrum: sorting Magic the Gathering and Pokemon cards!). So not sure what he would do if/when he moves to Lexington, but he will need to be near a wide variety of employment opportunities.

Are you looking for a suburban, rural, city, or urban area? -- probably city, but suburban if it's built up enough and has public transportation

Will you buy or rent? -- rent.
If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? -- apartment.
How much can you spend? -- let's say $500 a month.
Are you married or single? -- single
Do you have children? -- no
Do you have pets? -- no
Do you want or need a yard? -- no
Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? -- calm and quiet
What do you want to be closest to? -- public transit, employment, grocery shopping, pharmacy, bike trails

Based on all that, which areas would you recommend he consider?

Thanks for your help!
