Hello everyone, I'm probably going to be moving from the Houston area to Lexington in just less than a year from now.Although I'm really excited, I've lived my whole life in the Houston area so of course I'm a little nervous being so far away from everything and everyone I know. In houston, there is a very big Jewish community, and when I move it will be important for me to continue being part of one.
Can anyone tell me anything about the Jewish community in Lexington? I know there are two synogauges, but don't know anything about them, would like to know more, and plus if anyone has any info about the Jewish community outside of synogauges (is there are JCC, etc) and how to meet Jewish people. I'm in my late 20's. Thanks so much.
This is an entirely different topic and has NOTHING to do with being Jewish. BUT...I can't stand that woman and her views! sorry
To answer the question I am not sure about the Jewish community in Lexington, but a friend from High School has a large Jewish family here in Lexington and has always seemed very happy. I know that doesn't help much good luck!
It seems that there is not a very large Jewish community in Lexington. Here is a sort of example: at Passover, the supermarkets don't display the kosher/passover food. In places where there is a significant Jewish population, the supermarkets do this regularly, and I love that.
I will say that Lexington is a very tolerant place, so it isn't like you'll be ostracized or anything of that sort. But I'm afraid that the Jewish community is rather small. The only Jewish people I have known in Lexington were secular Jews.
Thanks!! That was a great website for what I was looking for!
