Lexington fine? Just be on guard; most people that live in Winchester work in Lexington..as those that live in Versailles, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Paris...etc and they take that mentality right back home with them.

The times haven't changed much at all..we just say they do.

You have to remember the thing about the entire eastern half of KY is that there are hardly any blacks (or really anyone who isnt white American). Whereas much of the southern part of the US has tons. So you get a much more free & open type of racism in KY I've noticed.

I mean, in the south, you cant really be a racist when a lot of your neighbors, coworkers, etc are black. Its just not gonna fly. But in E KY, its a different story. It mainly comes down to just pure ignorance really.

My boss and best friend here is from Winchester. Now, his family is one of those, "from the wrong side of the tracks" kind of families that you ONLY see on the Jerry Springer Show... at least I thought. But then I once traveled around with him for a couple of days, and he took me up to see Winchester.

It's a cool looking town in their downtown area, which has been restored a lot over the last few years. But without going into details which some from that area may find insulting, my opinion would be that no, you would probably not like living in that immediate area given your family makeup. Obviously not everyone there is "bad" and the limited experience I have with people there are obviously with people from that bad side of the tracks I mentioned. But based on that and what they told me, I would think that there would be other more open areas for a mixed couple to be more comfortable in than Winchester-proper.

Lexington-proper? Problably just fine. Louisville? Yes. Winchester? No (wait - I hear banjo music in the woods...)
YOU HAVE A DEEP-SEEDED PEA BRAIN, GET SOME HELP IDIOT. YOU MAY NEED A HEARING AID TO SHUT OUT THE BANJO NOISE YOU HEAR. SAVVY? Bea, Illinois

i do not find this to be true. Some people invent notions and this sounds very much like that to me. The "deep south" has racists same as pa, no, europe, anyplace you may go. I was born in winchester and can vouch one thing from my upbringing, bigotry was not in my family and we lived there a looooooooong time. Bea, illinois

I'm not "inventing" anything & just telling you how it was in my part of the state. I have nothing to gain or nothing to lose, it's just what I saw.

BTW, this was more in the Southeast part of the state, not so much Central KY. Winchester is probably much better since its around civilization & there are actually people of color around.
