Assuming that everything goes well with the inspection and closing on the home we are buying in Lexington, we'll be arriving before or after Thanksgiving, and our new house has some things we'd like done to it. If anyone has any recommendations for who to hire--or warnings from personal experience--we'd be happy to hear them.

We are DIY'ers for a lot of things, but my poor eyesight and klutziness combined means any painting that needs to be done on a tall ladder (exterior trim, those 2-story tall walls in the foyer, etc) is off limits and I need a pro. I am a neat freak and don't want to pay for "okay" work that looks like the hubby did it between beers while watching the game--I need it to be well done and clean and pretty much perfect.

We'd like to remove part of a wall between the dining room and kitchen, so we'll need a small-job contractor.

We'll be having tile floors installed in one room, so need a tile guy who is good.

And last but not least--fence installers. The yard is fenced already, but we need to fence off one side of it for the dog so the rest of the yard can be dog-free.

Here in our current city, I know one guy we could call for everything but the interior painting, so we'd be happy with recommendations for an all-around guy like that, too.

I know we could just ask our realtor, but that's what we did when we bought our current home and every single person she suggested turned out to be the worst of the worst. So, we're trying to get multiple opinions this time. Thanks!

I have used a guy named Doug Skidmore (Classic Home Improvement) at my own home as well as referred him to clients. He is one of those guys that really can do anything. Here is what I like about him: 1) He really wants to do it right. You can tell he puts a lot of thought into your job. 2) You can trust him. 3) He does good work and LOOOOOOOOOOOOVES to paint!

Here is a link to his website:
Classic Home Improvement, LLC

Another person I know that paints is Kyle Benningfield. He painted my old house. He is AWESOME!!!!! I haven't called him in a year or so, but his # was 396-1573.

I go to angie's list. For my fence (same as you, just needed one side closed off) I used Roark and I was completely happy. From your list, that's the only one I can help with ...

Larry and Tommy Reynolds does our painting both interior and exterior. He does a great job. I strongly recommend him!
