Unfortunately some friends of ours will be spending a lot of time at UK hospital's NICU in the near future. To help them out, we want to send them some gift cards to a nearby restaurant so that they can grab a bite to eat during breaks.

But, I need some ideas. Requirements:
-easy walking distance to UK hospital
-variety of food on menu (including some healthier stuff)
-affordable and relatively fast service
-has to sell gift cards
-flexible hours (eg not closed between lunch and dinner service)

I would prefer not to use a burger joint like the Dairy Queen. Any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear about your friends situation. I honestly can't think of anything that fits this bill. However, someone at the Ronald McDonald house might be a good resource. You might call there.
Good luck.

Thanks - I will keep them in mind. I've sent an e-mail to a friend that works at UK hospital to see if she has any ideas.

The area I keep thinking of the most for convenience is that shopping center on Virginia and S. Broadway...where the Jalapeno's is (I'm assuming it's still there). I haven't been there in a while, though. It doesn't seem like that would be too far of a walk if the weather was decent.
