Just curious to know if it's legal to fish in Reservoirs 1-4 located in Lexington?

If it is, where are the best areas to fish from the shore, and what are the best baits/tackles to use?

Oh, and I guess I need to know what kind of fish are in them too...

Thanks!

Lexington's reservoirs are mostly private property and as such are off limits to the normal fisherman. However, the portion on reservoir 1 in front of the abandoned Lexington Mall is available while the opposite side of Richmond Road is not.

Reservoirs 3 & 4 are owned, and have been since the late '70s, by the Lakeview Estates Lake Association (LELA) and is only available to those who front on the "lake" or pay dues to them.

Reservoir 4 is still owned by the Kentucky American Water Co. KAWC leases the northern part to the LFUCG as a public park(Jacobson Park). Fishing is allowed there at any time. The southern part is reserved for the Lake Ellerslie Fishing Club who help pay for the upkeep of the property.

I hope this helps.

My error. Reservoir 2 & 3 are the one surrounded by residential and inside the New Circle Rd. Reservoir 4 is split between Jacobson park and the south side of Richmond Rd. Reservoir 1 is consequently very small and immediately adjacent to the KAWC office location

What fills reservoir 4? With so little rain, I expect it to be much lower than it currently is. Is there a spring under it?

Reservoir 4 is also a holding area for untreated water pumped from the Kentucky River.
