If you'll be looking at the Lexington area, Nicholasville, Versailles, Winchester, Richmond, any place with a "___________ road" as a major spoke in the wheel will work.

Google Maps

Hope you enjoy Lexington!

Georgetown is pretty nice. May look into Frankfort too.

I defer to the experts above, but I'd look into Winchester. Also, we just met someone who I think lives down in Lancaster and commutes to Lexington and I know housing prices really start to get much cheaper down there. [Needless to say, Danville is a gem, but maybe 35-40 minutes commute, something like that].

Blossom is right, if you can stand a little more drive time the housing gets much cheaper if you go with the what I call the "Second Ring" towns. Richmond, Versailles, Georgetown, Paris & Nicholasville are a little cheaper than Lex (more for an older house, less so for a newer one). But if you look in the next town out, like Cynthiana, Frankfort, Mt. Sterling, Berea, Lancaster, Danville or Harrodsburg, it gets much cheaper.

Yeah, if you're content with being further from the nightlife, you can go VERY far with your money.

A nice small town would be Wilmore. Or a bit larger area would be Nicholasville.
