Galmont Consulting will hire 90 full-time employees in Lexington to test software and plans to form a partnership with University of Kentucky's College of Engineering to hire and train computer science graduates.
The average wage will be $44,000 to $46,000. Hiring should begin this summer.
Galmont's new facility represents a $1.3 million investment, according to Gov. Steve Beshear, who announced the venture Friday. The company will open in a 4,000-square-foot facility at 108 Esplanade downtown.
Galmont, which has its headquarters in Chicago,
has been approved for up to $800,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program. It provides software engineering and testing for a variety of clients, including many Fortune 500 companies in the insurance, healthcare and financial industries.
This is a great development for downtown Lexington. Any time a new company expands downtown is great, but for them to expand during this economy bodes well for Lexington. This is exactly the kind of development downtown needs and will only help make downtown a place where you can live, work, be entertained, and relax. It was just a week or two ago that Lexington found out it will be the new location for a Tiffany's production facility.
