This is my son's home school for next year, he'll be starting 9th grade, and I would appreciate any input on it. I'm worried about bullying and violence in general. I'm debating on home schooling

I have many friends with kids at HC and have heard no complaints. It's a good school and has many good families with kids there. Meet with the counselors and administrators and ask as many questions as you feel necessary to get a comfort level.

It's definitely considered the best high school in Lexington, but I don't know about bullying, etc. I haven't heard of anything in particular.

I currently have 2 son attending Henry Clay (9th & 10th) and they report nothing about bullying OR violent behavior. There have been some typical teenage posturing battles but no real violence. They state that drugs and alcohol are much more prevalent, as they were in my day.

If you end up homeschooling, check out
Lexington Christian Homeschool Home . We have three big high school homeschool co-ops here in Lexington. Homeschooled kids can have about the same high school experience as traditionally schooled in terms of sports, proms, socials, etc.

The general consensus that I've heard is that Dunbar is considered the "best" high school in Lexington with Henry Clay and Lafayette in at just behind Dunbar. You can make an argument that Henry Clay is the best, but saying it is "definitely" the best would be stretching it some. There are some really good schools in Lexington, and Henry Clay is no exception.

Henry Clay is a great school, a few of my friends from there went on to Carnegie Mellon, MIT, etc.
