My wife and I are visiting Little Rock for a long weekend. We'll be checking out Little Rock and the surrounding areas, getting some exercise, and trying some of the local eateries.

We're considering a move to the area and would like to get an idea of what's available. Ideally, we'd like to live where we can walk to restaurants, pubs, and a grocery store. Sidewalks and a trail system are highly desirable as are local State Parks. Based on searching in this forum, we plan to check out Downtown and Hillcrest. Any other Little Rock neighborhoods have similar amenities? What about Hot Springs? It appears to be a nice area as well.

Thanks for any suggestions!

The Riverdale area has what you are looking for. Especially the trail system. In that regard it's probably the best location in Little Rock. Plus it's just a short jaunt from Riverdale to Hillcrest or the Heights - The Heights is another neighborhood for you to consider.

I would suggest Hillcrest. It has more character than Riverdale. Riverdale is a former warehouse district with some newer apartment complexes thrown in. Hillcrest is unlike anything else in Arkansas. Hillcrest is the hipster district of Little Rock and has some of the city's best restaurants and pubs, and its all walkable. Surprisingly affordable as well!

You might also check out Park Hill in North Little Rock. Hot Springs is great for Lakes and Camping but the city itself seems to have been taken over by the major restaurant chains. Great place to visit but,,,,

I would also second Park Hill which has some of the things that are nice about The Heights without the price tag
