When they first came back and later Bill ran for, and won, the governors race, they were not very popular. He brought a Yankee wife and he had been gone so long he had a Yankee attitude. But when Bill got his tail kicked after his first term, it got their attention. They both dropped that Yankee, hippie, persona and became "one of us", and even when Bill was doing his catin' around while governor the general thought was "so what".

After we got them retrained I think most people were well pleased with them. I realize I'm gonna get jumped on for Posting this but some people must take a negative line on any subject. So bring it on

People in Arkansas generally have their own personal political opinions about Bill Clinton, just like everybody else, everywhere else.

Obviously he was popular enough here to be elected governor several times, and he carried the state in the presidential elections he ran in, too.

I'd also say that Arkansas politics isn't as predictable as some may want to believe. Arkansas can be a swing state. It went for Romney, but also has the most popular Democrat governor in the country right now. If not for term limits, Beebe would easily win a third term.

And now we have to kick out one of the most popular governer in all of the states and replace him with republican Hutchison. Old blue dog Ross might as well throw in the towel right now. Thanks to Obama, he doesn't have a very good chance of winning.

I think Clinton would be a lot more popular if it wasn't for his little....love affair. America seemed to be doing really good while he was in the white house.

Let us not re-write history.

The Clintons may be very popular now , but when Bill Clinton's term was up in in 2000, there wasn't a single Democrat running for president who wanted him any where near them.

He was about as toxic as Obama will be in 2016 to other Democrat candidates.
Yes, the nation had their fill in 2000 of Bill Clinton's lack of morals.

The question is.............did the people of Little Rock feel the same as the rest of the nation in 2000 or were they still in a " love fest" over the Clintons.

That cost Gore the election as well.

We were in the Harrison area yesterday talking to locals about this very subject, (and the heat), don't think there is too much appreciation for them up there past or present.

I think that's a common trait among most small towns - i.e. dislike of Democrats.

Even in places like Oregon....

I wonder how much Little Rock shares that view though.

Hate to break the news to you, but it wasn't just a little love affair, it was a constant habit of showing disrespect for women. I have never understood how anyone who is for women's rights could support any Clinton.

When the airport was renamed many people in our state were extremely unhappy.

Yes, we was not a bad President and yes, the country was doing well under him if you are speaking of the economy only, but there were other problems like the first world trade center trouble and not getting Ben Laden.

As for Beebe is a popular governor, but I have no problem with term limits and I certainly would not say he is the most popular governors in the country right now or even one of the most popular. That is a statement that is simply a matter of opinion.

Rock Climber: I think for the most part, AR politics are pretty predictable right now. Since the mid 2000 the entire state has flipped over. Yes, there are still pockets that are more Democrat than Republican and there are always going to be a mixture of elected officials from both parties, but certainly a large majority are leaning or voting Republican. For generations it was the opposite.
