Today I was on south Main Street of L.R., south of SOMA (South-on-Main), in the residential area. Many, many years ago that's the route I drove to work at the V.A. Hospital which was on Roosevelt Road at the time, but I had forgotten about the beautiful old homes in the area. The "small" ones have a large footprint but are only 1 1/2 story. Most of the others are 2 or 2 1/2 story and all I saw appear to have been restored and/or well maintained. I know about Quapaw Quarter but this was the first time I have been in the area in years. I have an acquaintance whose home is in that area and it was the servants quarters for one of those homes. His home is bigger than our home we now live in.

That's great, I always love to see old homes preserved.

I heard a little bit and have read online (mainly UP) about a "tech park" being housed in parts of downtown LR. I think it is in that Main St area. It seemed to me that half of that area was under construction or renovation when we were down in early January. I think downtown Little Rock is poised for a boom. I really liked the city when we visited again. Its a shame that UALR isn't closer to the downtown area or even nearer to Hillcrest. That would be a great setting for a school.

The "tech park", if and when it happens, will be north of I-630; north of SOMA. From the proposals I've seen it will be in the true "downtown" area on or near Main Street. It's a wonderful plan if they can get their together and quit passing the buck .
