I'm sure most Little Rock natives, and many who have moved here, have heard about Quapaw Quarter, but how many have heard of Hanger Hill? In today's Arkansas Democrat Gazette is an interesting story about the area and a realtors plans to bring the area back to it's past glory. The first houses were built in the mid 1800s and over the years many prominent people have lived there. He is building "vintage" homes on vacant lots, and they will compliment the existing homes.

For more details you may go to; www.encyclopediaofarkansas.net/encyclopedia There you will find other Links including the ADG story titled "Realtor is High on Hanger Hill".

Oops, that Link does not work. "sor 'bout dat, I'll see what's wrong.

I found a few links to help you out. Looks like there are some beautiful homes in that neighborhood. Proximity to the Clinton Library can't hurt.

Looks interesting, but it also looks like it has a ways to go yet. I'm afraid I would never be one of those brave souls who would take on a neighborhood and a remodeling project like this.

I do love to see old homes preserved, though. I'm glad there are people in this world brave enough to tackle that job.

All this is true, but this is the way Quapaw Quarter started, one home at a time, and now it is a "show-place" in Little Rock which has an annual tour of the restored homes.

Just looking at the map of the area, it seems like there are some natural barriers which separate the neighborhood from other areas, which is a good thing. There isn't a large "city" area to the east, it looks like it turns into forest and then the airport.

I like stuff like this. And yes, some of those old homes are absolutely beautiful. I'll check it out if I make it back to Little Rock soon.
