Anyone have any idea whether the chain motels along this route tend to sell out on weekends? I would prefer nto to make reservations and have to get to a certain point rather than just stopping wherever we get tired.
I would not recommend stopping in West Memphis, I lived there in the early 80's and it was not great then but has gotten worse since, I guess Memphis working it's magic across the river.

There are good hotels in Forrest City or Brinkley and both would be much safer.

Thank you all. We pushed through to Benton. Stayed at OYO. Not a beautiful place, bot affordable and clean. Probably should have gone round the corner to Roadway if they offer breakfast, but OYO was fine. They have good wifi, people were polite, reasonably quiet. (Really terrible coffee though. Bring your own).

Nice thing about pushing through, now we have only a four plus hour drive left.

Oh and we like your Kansas. It is quite pretty. Even prettier than their Kansas. I want to come back sometime and explore the beach towns. The only place I have spent much time in your Kansas is Toad Suck park and we went there a few years ago just because of the funny name. Toad Suck was pretty neat. Dog loved it, but we saw no toads.

WHat are the best coastal cities in your Kansas?

I swear this is the first time I have heard of OYO and when I looked it up I must have been by it hundreds of times. I think it recently changed names.

As for beach towns, are you talking Mississippi or Arkansas River beaches or lake beaches?

There is a nice sandbar on the Ouachita River down where I am from in El Dorado!!

Just kidding, you need to keep traveling south, southwest or southeast to find any beaches.
