My family and I are looking to move. Currently we live in Conway and we love it but we are looking to find something newer. I have found a few houses in Ward and Cabot and was wondering what the schools are like. My kids are excelling in Conway and I don't really want to "downgrade" their learning experience. Any info will help, thanks in advance.

Aren't there any newer homes in Conway? Why are you leaving town if you love it and your kids are excelling there?

I would ask the same, why leave Conway if you love it and kids excelling?

Maybe the newer houses are cheaper there?
I don't know.
Seems like a lateral move.
Would be smaller with less stuff though.
Jacksonville, Sherwood, and NLR are nearby.

Default To Move or Not to Move

We are actually moving from Cabot to Conway this month. We have lived here for 8 years and just sold our house. We cannot get out of here fast enough. I do not know why anyone would want to live here.

I would say if your children are nonwhite, special education, LGBTQ, of lower income, highly intelligent, or artsy - do not move to Cabot.

If your children are conformists or athletes who won't challenge the status quo. Or if they don't require any extra attention, due to a lagging or excelling in academia, then Cabot schools will work for them.

However, keep in mind, bullying is a huge problem here, even the teachers are involved in bullying students and picking favorites. When students complain about mistreatment from students and faculty alike, they will be ignored and problems will be swept away. The coach who molested those high school girls was allowed to keep his job for 3 years before he and his wife left town. His wife was also employed at the high school. Many parents tried to bring attention to him many times but were ignored.

Also, the city services are the worst in central Arkansas. People keep chickens in neighborhoods. Cars rot in front yards. The stray cat problem is beyond comprehension it is so bad and animal control is worse than useless. They admittedly have a "reactive not proactive" approach. The culture of this town is also unbearable; racist, lazy, and lacking ambition. It is a community that is stuck in the 1950s. The roads are in horrible disrepair and flooding occurs consistently. The traffic problem is so bad it takes 15 minutes to drive down Main St. through town because the train separates town and Main St. is only one lane each direction.

This has just been my family's experience and it hasn't been horrible. I'd say 4/10 would not recommend.
We have, however, watched people's lives be negatively impacted in a profound way from living in Cabot. I would encourage visiting regularly, go to Walmart, eat in the restaurants a few times. Moving from Conway to Cabot would be a considerable downgrade in every sense of the word.

I don’t think Conway would be much of an improvement or downgrade, especially the part about traffic.
Infrastructure design isn’t Arkansas’ strong suit no matter the town.

As for backyard chickens, that’s actually been popular in a lot of places, especially ones that are more hippie/bohemian. It’s usually the rigid conformists put off by it.
Good luck to anyone moving from one to the other, I hope it’s a better fit for you.

Still waiting for this explanation. OP doesn’t appear to be too interested in their own thread going on 2 months since the initial post.

Being able to keep chickens in my front yard would be great! And if they allowed goats as well... sign me up!!
Gotta love the folks who have free range chickens and goats in their yards. Not the type of folks who get robbed, or bullied. Folks like that own guns, love their country and can take care of themselves.
