I'm worried about finding a teaching job when my family and I move to Little Rock. I teach accelerated high school English and journalism. Are there some prep schools? Which public schools are considered top notch? Also, my husband will work downtown, so we want to find something "commutable" for both of us.

In the LRSD it would be Central.

Downtown you have Central (Public), eStem (Charter) and The Cathedral School (religious).
There might be another one, but I can't remember.

Central is pretty decent for a LRSD public school. You have more than your fair share of problem students and it is in a not so nice neighborhood, but you also have quite a few academic all-stars.

eStem just started this year and is currently up to 9th grade (they will be adding a new high school grade level each year so that the 9th graders can progress). My daughter goes there (elementary) and my brother-in-law teaches there (high school) . We have nothing but good things to say.

eStem. I have three children there (one in middle school). It is downtown and in reach of everything. John Bacon is the High School admin, Katrina Jones middle admin, Cindy Barton Elem.

I wish you the best, considering you teach English and journalism. I know you said accelerated English but it seems like these days the most "in demand" subjects are foreign language, math, and science. I wish you the best.

I am currently in college to become a teacher and there are plenty of school districts that need teachers in a variety of areas but it's also a question of whether people want to movie to these cities/towns/counties to teach.

Best of luck!!

I know I once saw an opening for a teacher at Children's Hospital, maybe it's still open if you're interested.
