Hi everyone, Im a 27yr old female moving tolittle rock for work. I am looking for great place to reside. I have done a little bit of research and have seen that downtown and river side is a great area for young professionals. Any suggestions on the best places to stay? I am looking for a 1-2 bedroom apartment around 850-950/mo, in a safe area of town but close to all the feel of downtown living. Thank you..Pepper.

The only suggestion I have is. After you get settled in, Go see all the beautiful scenery just a little north of Little Rock. Where are you moving from?

Hey Pepperislove, there's another thread about "hip, urban, walkable" places in Little Rock. Check it out.

Yeah, the River Market area is a great place to look. Keep in mind the Little Rock downtown area is fairly small, but it's growing.

Check out renting houses or rooms in houses in the MacArthur Park area. I've been there a handful of times--it seems a bit fresh and funky. (It's by UALR law school and the Art Center.) Craigslist is a good starting point. MacArthur Park is at the corner of I-30 and I-630.

I'm not sure what the housing situation is in downtown LR all that well. I had an apartment at Block II lofts, which is dead center of downtown, and I honestly didn't like it at all. The motocycles and sirens would reverberate off the buildings, and the bars were always loud as hell well into the night. The management was questionable. But to each his/her own. You may like it if you request a floor higher than mine--which was 3rd. I'd go for one of the top floors.

Also check out the Riverdale area, which is about 3 miles away from downtown. A lot of bikers and young professionals in the area. It's right by the river and great parks.

Riverdale might be what you are looking for. Its very suburban in feel but its only about 10 minutes from the River Market. Its also only 5 minutes from Hillcrest. Riverdale is probaly one of the least pedestrian-friendly areas in all of Little Rock however. If you want a more walkable neighborhood, look at Hillcrest or the Heights.

Riverdale or Hillcrest. Both are great for young professionals, safe, and live close to a lot of restaurants and entertainment options.

Crazy that you're coming from Fresno.
My cousin moved out there over the summer and she's from Little Rock.

Anyway, I hope you like Little Rock.
If you don't mind my asking, what is your career field?
