Hello Everyone! My fiance and I are looking into relocating to Arkansas and thinking about the Morrilton area. We are in our twenties and are looking for a place we can plant our feet. We have lived all over the country from PA to CA and currently in Florida. We have visited Arkansas and thought it was absolutely stunning. I have a few questions about the area if someone can help. We are looking for a small house to rent, we might consider an apt but not a complex. We are wondering about the utilities in the area as well. I have read that the cost of living is lower there so I hope that is true We are looking into going back to school and I saw there is a local community college in Morrilton as well. I was wondering how the weather is in Arkansas. Coming from Florida we know humidity but is it worse or better there? Also, I was wondering about bugs. Where I live in Florida it seems like we have a different bug infestation every week and I am hoping it is not like that in Arkansas. Thank you for your help

I have no experience with the Morrilton area, so the best bet would be to do a search of the forum (starting with an advanced search "with titles only" for Morrilton). Humidity is so much less in Arkansas compared to Florida (in my experience). Regarding bugs; depends where you live. If you have a house in the country, then you might see more creepy crawly creatures than in towns/cities, but it is still less than Florida. And we don't generally get bug infestations. I find utilities to be much cheaper here than in other parts of country. Best of luck with your search.

Morrilton is just up the road from Russellville, which has pretty much anything you can ask for from a Wal-Mart to a Best Buy to a Thai restaurant to a historic downtown area.

Housing in Morrilton will be cheaper because it's on the outskirt's of a bigger town.

Mosquito's are pretty bad around here, but like what's been stated already, there aren't infestations.

Smile Northwest Arkansas

Do not overlook Northwest Arkansas. We are in the Ozark Hills up here in the corner of the state. Routinely it is about 10 degrees cooler than in the Arkansas River Valley region. Northwest Arkansas Community College (Bentonville) is higly recognized (not to ignore the U. of A. and those Razorbacks). Fayetteville (Biker, Blues and B.B.Q. amongst a host of other things). Bugs are not a problem. Great Lakes, Mountain Region, Walmart Headquarters. With the present economy, housing prices are down. This is a great place to raise a family. 90 minutes from Tulsa, 90 minutes from Branson, 3 1/2 hours from Little Rock, 5 hours (or so) to Kansas City. Only a couple of hours to GREAT CANOEING, BACKPACKING, CAMPING, etc. in the North Central Arkansas Region (such as the Buffalo National River). Do an internet search also for Blanchard Springs Caverns; (nothing like it!). One can sit in a cold mountian stream (in the summer time) within 30 minutes such as the Roaring River State Park in southern Missouri (again do an internet search). Good Luck.

There's no Best Buy in Russellville.
