Are londoners obsessed with london like people from NYC are with NYC?

Do you guys constantly tell other cities in europe how superior you are to them?

I'll be in london next summer, and I just want to know if I'm going to run into this mentality when I get there....

There is a thread in the city vs, city section labeled New York vs London the new yorkers are talking really about London

Not really. Most born-and-raised Londoners (I didn't grow up here) don't know or care much about the rest of the country and the British media is London-biased, but your typical Londoner (of white English background, that is) complains endlessly about how crowded it is, how expensive, how there are too many foreigners, and how they want to live somewhere else, etc. I personally reckon it's always been like this. Most of what people would recognise as typical Londoners now live in the smaller towns outside the city and it's actually rare to hear an authentic London accent in London itself. I got lost in an unfamiliar part of the city last weekend and struggled to find anybody with English as their first language

Not really. I think a lot of geniune Londoners are proud of being from there but they don't beat their chests and get in your face about it. It's more of a quiet pride that comes from years and years of heritage and tradition and survival.

Exactly. You might not think it from the things we say, but most of us are proud of where we're from, only not in a "YEAH! WHOOOOOOO! NEW YORK!!!!!" sort of way.
