Dave’s right about that, when the first bombs came down in September 1940, Londoners bitched more about the buses being diverted around bomb craters, making them late, than whole streets being blown away.
In France, the further south of Paris you go, the less chance you have of running into a gilets-jaunes road block, but they can appear anywhere.
I have relatives in the north, around Lille and Lens, who’d like to tar and feather Président Macron, and equally I have some in the south, Montpellier, Toulouse, who no longer communicate with those in the north, as they love M. Macron.
Granted, the southerners are mostly plumbers, electricians, and builders, who work “off the books”, and wouldn’t pay one thin dime in tax if they could get away with it.
