Is there anywhere on LI besides Lowes, Home Depot and the web to purchase a decent mailbox - not the kind you hang on front of your house or a generic one down at the curb - one that's on a post and is decorative (maybe I'll put it on the walkway from the driveway to the front door). There was a store in Smithtown but now he is online only. I looked on the web but could not find a storefront here on LI.
I kinda want to touch the thing before I actually purchase it.

I know you want to "TOUCH" it...but I got mine from Frontgate: Outdoor Furniture - Bath Towels & Bedding - Bar Stools - Luxury Home Decor

They have excellent quality mailboxes and you can return them if you don't like it.

Like Glad2BHere stated, I know you interested in physically touching and seeing the mailbox, but we purchased a GDM from MoreMailboxes.com. We wanted something indestructible because our street is notorious for mailbox baseball. It's been a few years and so far, so good...it doesn't have a dent. Plus the mailbox itself is huge!

Here's a local company - check out the website:

Install a Mailbox - Long Island, NY

They no longer have a storefront (probably too expensive) but if you call them, maybe they have a few in stock; usually it's drop-ship and then installation...

Good luck!

That''s where we got ours. Can't remember the name of it but the location sounds right.
