I'll be vacationing in various places around Suffolk in July, and I'd like to know if any towns, hamlets, etc. require permits to park in places such as downtowns and to get access to public beaches. Or would I just feed a meter or pay at the guard shack?

I grew up in Ridge and Middle Island (1970-1988), and I vaguely remember my parents having to get window stickers for their cars in order to use the beaches.

Thanks in advance.

Most places you don't need a permit to park downtown but you do need a sticker for town beaches. If it's a county or state park then you need to pay the daily fee.

Thanks, twingles. Do most parks/beaches have a guard shack or whatever at the entrance where I can get a day pass?
