If you have Verizon and are thinking about upgrading your phone be aware that Verizon has added monthly "Data Plan" charges to all of the so called Smart Phones.
Unless you want a crappy flip phone (of which they only offered 3 on my plan) you will be hit with these charges.
The charges would add almost $90.00 a month to my 3 line family plan, that's right they want to charge 29.95 per line. They do not care if you ever want to access the internet from your phone.
The phone manfacturers say the data plan is not required to make the phone work and most of the phones do not even use the Verizon network if a wireless access point is avaiable to connect to.
How is this a scam???? Its a smartphone, ALL carriers charge extra to have a smartphone.
It's a scam when they only have 3 non smart phones in the store that are free on the 2 year upgrade plan, yet they have over 50 smart phones that are free (except for the 29.95 a month)
You can get a $10/MO plan. Pretty stupid if you ask me though. Especially since they do it on phone like the NV3 etc which are just glorified txt phones, not really web-surfing phones.
If your on non-Vz system you can just swap the sim card into a smart phone and use that with the internet disabled.

Not anymore, they are going to cap it at 2GB before starting to charge you IIRC.

if you sign up for unlimited data then they take it away and make a 2gb limit, you are grandfathered in the unlimited. Same thing happened to me with my iPhone.. I have 30$/mo unlimited (and I use 5-6gb a month sometimes) but it's no longer available.
unlimited data is great while it lasts. should include unlimited texts though.
