Majority of it is in CI SD but along the Northern edge, north of the LIE, it's in the Hauppauge SD and anything east of old Nichol's is in the Connectquot SD.

CENTRAL ISLIP. I would definitely say Central Islip. It has its problems but it is not anywhere near as bad as people make it out to be. Also, in the last 10 years the community has been on the upward trend more so than the others.

Personally I would not choose any of these towns. There are better areas. Not sure what your budget is or where your new job is located.

I personally consider C.I. to be better-looking than Brentwood, in general. But they both have notable gang problems with Ms-13 and other gangs and the School District really has lower-performance according to stats. That's what's holding the community back.

But it is true that certain LI communities are portrayed worse than they really are.

Why not try Islip or west Islip? Parts of Bayshore are ok too. Deer park too.

LOL, this was an OLD thread ; I decided not to move yet though i'm really attracted to North Amityville. Yeah, I know it has higher-crime but the reality is that most people won't bother you if you don't both them and most crime victims are people who were involved in that lifestyle and there are ways to dramatically reduce your chance of of being a victim to a crime.

I love the location, it's right down the road from the Melville business district, close to the Massapequa Mall and all the restaurants/shopping on Rt.110 and Sunrise Hwy. I really don't find NA to be that bad of a town, it has some really stunningly nice sections as well as some real sleazy parts! Data suggests that the School District is improving (but still not up to par with the rest of the island). I think it's a reasonable choice for a first-time home-buyer.

It's just my personal choice, you just gotta find an area that suits you and I did my homework..

(I considered Deer Park and Bay Shore too at one-point.)

Everybody wants something different out of the community they move to. Some want a quiet private lifestyle in a picture-perfect sheltered environment, some want a hip more happening alive environment. I personally like a more alive setting.

Don't get me wrong, all the towns you listed are not bad by any means but they seem to lack the element of excitement that I crave. Islip and W.Islip are more quieter private towns and I don't really see much going on when I drive through these places (except on the main streets). Mostly just families minding their own business raising their kids, they're also not very diverse either and I get bored quick when I am around too many people of the same race!
