Yes, that's just a bit out of the way coming from the south.

I don't doubt it. I have issues with you (nice screen name) and I've never seen you.

I'm pretty laid back and not in a rush when shopping so I've never been in such stupid and silly confrontations. I usually shop at the BJ's in Riverhead but if I ever have a long delay at JFK and want to do some shopping, I'll take you up on the offer.

I agree and take the Outerbridge not the Goethals to the VNB.

Id rather not sit in traffic... IMO hitting no traffic is better then sitting in a traffic jam in Staten Island or the Belt since everyone is too cheap to pay the toll on the GWB.

LOL!!!!!!!! That's me! That's me! One time I was so cheap, I drove through Manhattan to jump on the Lincoln. Went to a party in Elizabeth and on my return took the Goethals to the VNB. Savings of $11, yeah me!

BTW, anyone who is curious I took the BQE to the Williamsburgh into the City. It's going to suck when they start charging on the East River crossings.

Thought I would update you all!

I just got back, crazy trip to say the least. I went up at noon on Sunday, leaving from Baltimore. Took the VNB to I-278 to LIE. Got to Brentwood at 8pm! YES, EIGHT HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GPS est. time was just under 4 hours. I stopped once for less than 10 minutes.

I sat in bumper to bumper traffic the ENTIRE trip, it was horrible!

On the return yesterday, leaving Brentwood at 6pm, I took the LIE to GWB (forget which road in between through. 4 hours!!!!! No traffic at all!

Now, I found both routes very easy to navigate. Also the days of the week and rain on Sunday, and time of day were factors. So, not really sure which way was better, but I doubt I would take the VNB route again as some of that area I was in was a tad scary looking and a little too close for comfort. The roads themselves were pretty bad compared to the GWB route. The view of the city was aweseme though!

Thanks for your help on this, interesting conversation while I was gone!

Another tidbit, had a bad car crash as soon as I arrived, totaled my brand new $36K van, had to get a very expensive rental to get me home. Thankful to be alive with only airbag burns and the other driver is also fine. But the LI police, rescue folks and Huntington Hospital staff were fabulous!!! Seriously great people!
