Hi all,

I will be moving to LI soon with my two kids and am looking for areas that are diversed yet with a great schools. Nassau county and suffolk county no further than Smithtown would be ideal.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Veve,

I resurrected some old threads when you were first considering LI. Are you still in the same budget zone?

We have decided we would rent first and see how things work out before buying. We are looking to rent homes either single home or town homes for $2600 a month.

There really aren't many "diversified" school districts- they tend to go one way or the other here.

Mineola, Valley Stream, Hicksville come to mind- with Hicksville probably being the best S/D of the group.

Half Hallow Hills has a decent amount of diversity and is considered an excellent district

HH would be a very good choice. If I recall correctly, someone commutes into NYC so the access to the LIE is convenient as well.
