I know the OP was looking for a place in Suffolk, but there's a Teavana at Roosevelt Field too and they have free samples.

Teavana is great...they have 3-4 different teas brewing all the time to sample. I like the whole idea of using local businesses...but Teavana has a good thing going.

Personally, I don't drink coffee at all - never liked it, and finally gave up trying , so I'm always looking at new teas.
However, if you like coffee, you might want to try "Mate" tea, a South American variety with a smoky flavor. I believe I saw it on the Teavana site. I used to buy it in Germany and when my mom was alive, she'd send me a package periodically. Haven't had any in years now

Try this place:

The Greenport Tea Company, New York

I have gone there and it is very good. If you look at the tea menu, they do have some Japanese green tea. Plus you can buy tea to take home (as well as all sorts of tea accessories).
