Clarify that for me. Are you saying that you don't think that the testing discriminates or the grading is needed to prevent discrimination.
I'm saying that with 9,000 people, there are going to be plenty of minorities and women scoring near the top that they are chosen because they are the best, not because they are minorities or women.

There's probably no need for it at this point, one would hope. One would hope that there are enough women and minorities applying to ensure a well-rounded force, too. But maybe there aren't.
I really don't know the statistics, but if 8,728 of the people currently on the list of 9,000 are white guys, you're going to have to round it out somehow because like it or not, more than a little bit of police work is gender- and ethnicity-specific. Actually there have been several lawsuits over the years relative to discrimination from females. There was a lawsuit against SCD in the 1990's that halted hiring until they could come up with a test that could qualify more minorities. The test in 2000 was redesigned.

And yet there was a recent lawsuit talking about how a woman was discriminated against because she was forced to move heavy boxes, like the male officers were made to.
Don't bother unless you are female, minority, or prior police/military. Otherwise ZERO chance you get in.
I'm taking the test. If you meet all the requirements you'd have to be stupid not to.
