Hi! Looking for a good, "old-fashioned" Chinese restaurant near the Smithtown/Commack area. Like the kind when I was a kid in Hempstead, New China Inn or Gum Ying in West Hempstead , where you sit & eat in the restaurant (not a take-out), lots of hanging lanterns (atmosphere!), & they know your name after going there awhile. Not looking for a buffet!, they're good too but not what I'm looking for. Any suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!
Tom

Ancient Ginger in St. James. Little bit of a drive, but great place.

Long River in Kings Park , by the train station , may have the atmosphere you are looking for . My personal favorite is Foo Luck on Commack Rd in Commack - atmosphere not as great but food and prices are. Always crowded both for sit-down and take out - a good sign.

Empire Szechuan in Smithtown, close to 25 intersection with 347, may be a good choice.

No hanging lanterns but the food is super good at Precious in East Northport on Larkfield and they will know your name if you go there enough.
