Hi All -
To all the parents and prospective parents, how much should I expect to pay for child care (7-5) for an infant in the Rockville Center, Lynbrook, Franklin Square area? Thanks in advance!

Yep, thats a good ballpark number for a infant. Once they hit 2 years old the price will drop off a little bit.

Wow. how do people afford multiple kids in this day and age with two working parents in LI? Really tough. Is any of this tax-deductible?

It's tough to have more than one kid on LI. I spent about $15k a year on child care/preschool (my daughter is almost 4). It's crazy! You can get child credit if your taxable income does not exceed a certain threshold.

You can also do dependent care flexible spending through your employer.

Most people who have more than 1 child that needs full time care become stay at home mom's/dad's till they are in kindergarten. The cost is just not worth it, your basically working to pay someone else to raise your kids. Come to think of it I dont know any people where both husband and wife work and they have 2 kids in childcare. Its just not beneficial. And the tax break is skimpy..something like $400 a year.

Yup - from a financial point of view, having a child is like paying another mortgage. Emotionally, the return on investment is priceless.
