Just a got an annoying note in the mail that my insurance premium went up like 200 bucks (1400/yearly - StateFarm). I'm curious as to how much others are paying and what my options are....thanks in advance!

$1300-$1400 sounds about right. Look on your policy and compare it to last years. What line went up or was anything added to it?

do you have auto's bundled with it? if you do, then $1400 sounds expensive to me.

What's your sqft? Coverage also matters. Paying $990 for 1500sqft at the moment. Wonder how much that's going to go up after we dormer.

I've found that if you have auto with it, it only goes down by $50-$100... still something.

You're leaving out too much info for anyone to reasonably make a comparison....how big is your house, what is it made out of, how much property do you have, what is your deductible, what are your liability limits, what is the value they have it insured for, do you have your cars insured with them, etc. The multi-line discount is pretty good with State Farm, and probably true of most other companies as well.

I pay around $1,200 for a small split (1800sf - maybe). I dont even see it though as it is paid with my mortgage/taxes. Have my car with them too. Allstate.

Tough to compare when everyone has different coverage too.

I am going to pay $780 a year for a 2300 sq/ft colonial. Liberty Mutual.

If you guys are paying too much, raise your deductable. I carry a $5000 deductable. Happy with that as I won't be filing any small claims anyways. I'd rather have the money in my pocket.

good point. I think my deductible is too high (low) though the storm in March I was happy. $5000 is kind of high though you make that up fairly quickly.

That's a smart idea. I may look into that. What about hurricane, is that an automatic 5k deductible or does it go up to 10k?

Hurricane ded is usually a precentage of your dwelling coverage.

ouch... when someone broke in at my parents' they messed up the sliding door pretty bad... a new one cost $2k+... I'm not willing to pay that among other things if I have insurance to speak of. You're already paying nearly $1k/yr to have insurance and can't use it if something similar happens to you (you knew that).
