Interesting article in the Post today on this from Phil Mushnick who reports on Sports Radio & TV. Obviously there are some conflicting interests considering it is the Post (owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation) but he brings up some interesting points.

On October 1st, Cablevision pulled MSG Network (which it owns) from Dish Network while in a dispute with them and is NOT insisting on binding arbitration but continued negotiation. Interesting.

not sure who to believe but Cablevision says the exact opposite:

MSG Willing to Submit Dish Dispute to Arbitration - 2010-10-20 01:57:26 | Broadcasting & Cable

Quote:
"We are perfectly willing to go to binding arbitration to resolve this dispute with Dish Network," said MSG in a statement.

Both companies are symbolic of things that are very wrong with giant corporate America.

Cablevision raises rates for the same service having a virtual monopoly for years, they deny HD signal to their competitors and then brag about how you can't watch all the NY sports teams in HD...well, it's not like Verizion doesn't want to broadcast the Rangers and Knicks in HD, you won't LET them because you OWN the network, lying low lives!!

Either way the consumer is going to pay more for the same service or not get it at all, so it's a lose only situation for us while big corporations line their pockets by doing nothing other than exerting influence.

Cablevision should have had it's monopoly broken up years ago, and Fox is run by one of the biggest dirtbags on Earth.

um, what are they lying about? lol...

Sort of OT, but it makes you wonder why Cablevision allows any version of MSG on FIOS.

They do, just not in HD. Similar to when they stopped all Verizon ads in Newsday. Bunch of cheeseballs

They are running commercials with that soap opera guy saying "if you want to watch all NY sports teams in HD, you can't on Fios"

They should have James Dolan in the commercial saying "you can't watch all NY sports teams in HD on Fios BECAUSE WE WON'T LET THEM, so we have you the consumer by the you know whats. Ha ha!!!! It's fun to be rich!!"

Pretty much the definition of a media monopoly.
