What do you expect. People are treating red lights and stop signs as Stoptional.
And I love how people cry "OMG BIG BROTHER" when they and they themselves are the problem. Don't speed, don't drive like an idiot, and don't blow through traffic devices because you think you're specialer than everyone else.

Newsflash: they aren't popping up because the municipalities suddenly care more about red light runners. They're popping up because they are easy money, a "stupid" tax if you will.
Doesn't mean I don't appreciate them, because I don't run red lights and maybe this will stop the idiots..but the truth is when someone gets killed being t-boned by a red light runner..the person is usually drunk and a $50 fine after the fact isn't going to stop them.
Those do not work . High end dskr's are used in a lot of the red light camera boxes. They have been known to actually be stolen because of it. So if you are taking pictures of the products with a dslr and the plate numbers are showing it wont work for a red light camera.

LMAO!! This is so true! It's a pet peeve of mine actually. I'm sick and tired of driving around my local streets where almost every block has 4 way stop signs only to have drivers blowing through the stop signs without even pausing to look and see if someone is coming.
When you get pulled over and a cop sees those you'll get a ticket anyway.
I never said they were good ideas. The ONTRACK one seems like the best option to me if it works like they say. It isn't very obvious when looking at it at regular height so the chances of getting caught with it are much less than the other methods (except the flip plate but you have to remember to flip at every yellow light you go through.)

all license plate covers...even clear ones are illegal in NY.

Its not only NY. Its every state now. Its just some cities are worse than others. I've figured how to tell how bad it is in each city I drive in. As I pass through an intersection I look for debris fields (pile of mixed broken glass, plastic and sand). The more I see the more cautious I am going through intersections.
The service roads at 112 and 495 now have them and they are working...Saw they installed them at Nicholls road and 347 also but unsure if they are working yet...Did not see flashes at that one this morning...
