Something similar happened when I was on a train from Penn Station at like 7 AM, a bunch of drunk idiots who where probably drinking all night in the city were being very loud and obnoxious. Somebody yelled a ton of things I can't type here and they shut up and people started clapping.
I don't get why people get on the LIRR and think they are home. My other peeve is unruly kids. Behave your kids we are on a moving form of transportation.
Here's another pet peeve . . . people who have their heads buried in their blackberrys or ipods while they're walking and have no clue that they're holding up pedestrian traffic behind them. For example, an idiot stopped to read an email at the top of the escalator as we were leaving the LIRR and entering Penn Station. The area was quite crowded and he had the nerve to start screaming that we were the rude one's bumping into him.
Oh and people who blast their ipods so loud that the echo of the music is screeching through their headphones. Are they really playing the music that loud or are their headphones cheap quality?
I hear ya I hate it when people blast their ipods/MP3 players so loud its as if they were using mini-speakers. Lower the volume or get some closed/IEM headphones!

The problem is self solving...they will soon be deaf and brain dead.
