The last few days there has been some road work (surprise surprise) on College Rd/Mooney Pond Rd just south of the main entrance to Suffolk Community College in Selden. So far they only done a small section but they seem to be coating the road with something that looks like pink clay. Talk about a weird and seemingly pointless road project. Anyone have any idea on why they would be doing this?

I've never seen that anywhere before and thought maybe someone might have an idea of what they are doing.
