Down at least 263 votes with less than 1,000 challenged ballots to be counted (most of which were ballots he challenged) Altschuler has decided to concede.

Quote:
After an expensive election chock full of nasty attacks on both sides, Rep. Tim Bishop and Republican Randy Altschuler agreed on one thing Wednesday: Every vote counts.

Altschuler conceded the last unresolved Congressional race in the country 36 days after voters cast ballots. He trailed by at least 263 votes with about 1,000 uncounted absentee and affidavit ballots remaining.
"It shows that every vote really does count," Altschuler told Newsday Wednesday. "I think it's terrific that normal people should get involved with the process, making sure they vote and having their voices heard."
Bishop called the postelection drama "a real lesson in civics. This truly makes the case that every vote counts."

Altschuler, a St. James businessman who poured $2.8 million of his own money into the race, phoned Bishop (D-Southampton) and said he would not seek a full hand recount of the 194,000 ballots cast to spare Suffolk voters the cost

Unfortunate that Altshuler had to concede, Bishop is a puppet of Nancy Pelosi - just like Steve Israel. On the bright side, the Dems lost 63 seats in the House so their show will end on January 1st.

Doesn't matter much, Dems/Reps - they still don't know how to propel the ship forward, we will continue to drift until they come up with a comprehensive and cohesive plan to invest in this country and stop the pork. Both parties suffer from a lack of leadership and integrity. BTW, what viable candidate does either party offer for 2012? We might be in for some more of "Yes, we can" if they don't come up with something good - Bloomberg anyone?

Id vote for Obama before I voted for Bloomberg.

Bloomberg likes to claim he's an independent or a moderate, but judging from his policies it's pretty obvious that he is a typical power hungry far left dictator wannabe. His repeated attempts to deny New Yorkers their basic constitutional rights (gun control measures and his overturning of term limits) make him ineligible for any public office.

Agree with Frmrly Brklyn

Bloomberg is the biggest hypocrit out there. Switching parties on two occasions is bad enough but when he had the term limits changed solely for his benefit, that was the last straw for me. Especially since he bashed Guiliani for talking about staying on for another term after 9/11.

Bloomberg is very self-serving, more so than most of the politicians out there.

Both parties are tarnished right now but the pendulum is swinging back toward the right at the moment and I'd look for someone who is fiscally conservative to take the bull by the horns and stop the wasteful spending and balance the budget. Who that will be? Nobody knows just yet.
