Just another slap to the face to Suffolk County taxpayers, something that we really needed as the thugs take over.
"Spokesmen for Suffolk County police and the hospital declined to comment, citing the ongoing investigation into departmental incompetance".
Ongoing investigation? What's to investigate, it happened right under their noses, not really the eighth wonder of the world,
is it, and just how much more money do they need to pour into an "investigation"?
Here's my take on this great escape:
"Herlich had been arrested at 12:41 a.m. Sunday and charged with burglary and resisting arrest. He was taken to Stony Brook
University Medical Center in shackles for observation after complaining that he felt ill, sources said". " Just before 5 a.m., Herlich
said he needed to go to the bathroom and, as the patrol officer in charge unshackled the prisoner and pointed out the rest room area ,
while the officer returned to his doughnut and a complimentary copy of Newsday, Herlich, unsupervised, managed to easily slip out of the
emergency-room area, a hospital source said. By the time the arresting officer finished reading the sports page, he realized that Herlich
hadn't kept his promise to return shortly, the officer decided to check on the prisoner and found that after changing into a nearby set of
scrubs, had already left the hospital.
County police are a joke, dumb and dumber in those organizations
These particular "county police" are certainly not compensated in joke dollars:
Suffolk County Police Dept (http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/police/recruitmentFAQ.htm - broken link)
Quote:
After five (5) years of service, base salary is $108,608.00*
*As per the 2010 labor agreement
LOL. Remember, that's before overtime! Hey, I figured out an "excuse" for this great escape: maybe they want to make some overtime tracking down the fugitive!

Eddie, the prisoner didn't even have to DISGUISE himself in scrubs! He just shuffled out of the hospital emergency room in LEG SHACKLES and carjacked a car from the parking valet right in front of it! LOL!
I bet the scpd were all escorting funerals. I dont mean to be nasty,, but recently I have seen so many police cars escorting funerals ; there is always at least either 3 cars and one or two motorbikes or at least 4 cars.
Not to disrespect anyone, but come on ; is it really necessary?

Not in this case. The shackled prisoner made his GREAT ESCAPE at around 5:00 AM!
I heard that the cop who was supposed to keep an eye on this guy was busy on the phone, getting an anonymous tip from a guy who was informing him that he knew of a teacher who showed Snow White her 1st grade class, and he became distracted writing all the information down.
